On Monday September 15th Mary Scarlett gave birth to a litter of 4 beautiful pups. As she is quite a tiny bitch we had thought long and hard before doing this mating. We had to find a stud dog that was going to bring al
l of the attributes to the mating that we were looking for.
The intended sire had to be :
*As near to a total out cross as we could find. No inbreeding or line breeding if we could possibly help it. We have always worked this way and always will.
*Sweet natured. There is no pleasure to be had in producing dogs that are liable to be feisty, nervous or quick to rile.
*Healthy with clear eye and heart testing and from lines that are not known to carry genetic problems.
* Good looking but not too big and not too over done for type. A big boxy or over done type of head would not have been a good match for Scarlett
*Lastly, they had to like each other and want to mate together without interference or coercion.
Fortunately I was able to find just such a dog , Salsara Sweet Pickle at Manaking, a son of Campanards Tribute to Sorata ( a Swedish Imported Dog). Harley as he is known is owned and loved by Sue Royston of Manaking Cavaliers, her beautiful Dylan happens to be Scarletts father. It was love ( or lust) at first site with the two Rubies and within seconds we had a match!
Scarelt had a very comfortable pregnancy and a labour that was so serene I was not even sure she had started until she produced a water bag! Three hours later her beautiful pups had all arrived and she was tucked up in a clean bed with them.
The three girls were all born first and all weighed 6 ounces, it was obviously going to be hard telling each girl apart. Very close examination showed that each girl had just a few white hairs on their chests of no more that a 1/16 th of an inch but I was able to use marker pen and make one Blue, she is Coco, one Pink who is Dollar and the third was more like a hair line. We have yet to shoes a name for her The boy, Rowley also has a few white hairs. I am sure all of these will disappear over the next few weeks as the pups grow.
Please watch the bottom of the page for news and updates as the pups grow.

NEWS UPDATE
Friday October 3rd
Nothing much to report today other than that the pups are doing great, Thank The Lord! The first three weeks are always such a worry, so many things can go wrong, but thankfully, so far so good. The tummy bug that was picked up at a few days old seems to have gone away and left no lasting effects, again, thankfully!
After I get next weeks club show over and done with I will be having more visitors in to see the pups, help socialise them and help Scarlett realise that no one is going to hurt her. Of all the girls we have ever had she is the most sensitive and has the heart of a tigress if anyone comes near her babies! As she is not really food orientated it is not easy to bribe her to allow friends to have a peep, we have to sit patiently, watch quietly and when SHE has decided it is ok, then you can take a peek at her pups!
Such a small Mummy yet so protective of her even smaller babies, it never fails to amaze me!
ROO ROO ROOO, THESE ARE MY BABIES!
